On our third day we awoke to another great day. We had great views across the icefield all day. We were surrounded by a sea of white all day. So I tried to take a bunch of panoramic pictures. I haven't put them together but the pictures I have posted should give you an idea.
We hiked down the icefield for most of the day. The snow had a hard crust on top and was relatively flat, which made most of the walking this day easy. At the end of the day we had to start to navigate around crevasses.
Our camp for the third night was directly out from Cerro Torre. These are the pillars that you see in most of my pictures. Since the summer has been warm and dry in Patagonia a lot of the snow has melted and a lot of the crevasses were exposed. Max and Nico found a spot , about 20 feet wide, between to crevasses were we set up our camp.
Hi Kent,
Gorgoeous shots! Some of them look like you could be in the Rockies. Do ya think you could hand your camera over to someone and have a picture taken with yourself in it?!?! For all we know you could be sitting in a basement somewhere, getting these pictures from a website!
Most of our snow is gone - now it's just brown and dirty here.

Kent,
Great photos. I was wondering who that extremely handsome and obviously brilliant older fellow from Boston is in the photos? Hope all is well and that you enjoyed Bariloche. Got a message from my older son (who is in Chile finishing up the NOLS course) that he wants to spend "a couple of weeks in Buenos Aires" after his course ends and before he comes home. I can imagine a couple of weeks stretching into a couple of months. Regards, Mark

Great photos. Great scenery. Do you get a sense that you are in another country? I would think other than the guides speaking their native tongue you could be anywhere.
Have you seen any others on the trail? How are the temperatures?
PS I hear they are golfing in Calgary.
